Mesa 10.6 Being Branched Soon, Official Release Coming Early June

The current plan is to branch Mesa 10.6 from Git master on Friday, which would put the official 10.6.0 release in early June.

Emil Velikov is working to put Mesa 10.6 into a feature freeze by the end of this week along with the first 10.6 Release Candidate. Following this branching and RC1, there are plans to do weekly release candidates until Mesa 10.6 is ready. Tentatively that puts the official Mesa 10.6.0 debut on the Phoronix birthday! June 5 is the tentative release date for Mesa 10.6, the same day as Phoronix turning eleven years old.

Emil sent out the 10.6 release plan reminder to the Mesa-dev mailing list. There's a chance the release could slip by a few days if it means new OpenGL extensions making the cut, but so far no one has publicly expressed any chance of getting OpenGL ES 3.1 / OpenGL 4.0 squared away this week. With the three month release cycle of Mesa, this puts the next change for OGL 4.0 / GLES 3.1 compliance at September for seeing the open-source support in released form.
