NDISwrapper 1.58 was released on Tuesday night with the sole official change being "support for Linux kernels up to 3.8." This was the first release of 2013 with NDISwrapper 1.57 being the last update, which happened back in December of 2011. The NDISwrapper 1.57 release introduced support for Linux kernels from 2.6.35 to 3.1. That wrapper release also introduced various other changes.
Basically, NDISwrapper 1.58 introduces support for Linux kernels from 3.2 to 3.8.
With more network hardware vendors offering native Linux kernel drivers, NDISwrapper is beginning to lose importance. In fact, I nearly completely forgot about the project until Anzwix reminded me tonight with the new release.
If you are still relying upon NDISwrapper for Linux wireless network support rather than a native hardware driver, stop by its SourceForge page to grab the new 1.58 release.
