Skylake EDAC Driver Is A Late Addition To Linux 4.8 Kernel
A new driver addition coming only now to the Linux 4.8 kernel after the merge window closure is skx_edac.
This new thousand lines of code is for providing error detection and correction (EDAC) for the Intel Skylake server integrated memory controllers. Skylake servers are getting their own new EDAC driver due to various architectural changes with the hardware they decided to stop extending the Sandy Bridge EDAC driver.
Tony Luck of Intel is the maintainer of this new skx_edac driver. The driver landed with this Git commit today.
