Yesterday the Free Software Foundation released a
beta update for Gnash, the Flash Player that's written by the community and is comprised of all open-source code, but today Adobe has updated its official Flash Player. Adobe's Flash Player 10 has been officially released for all supported platforms -- Linux included. As we have
shared in earlier news postings, Flash Player 10 brings forth a number of new improvements. Most notably, there is improved web-camera support through Video 4 Linux 2 (V4L2). There are also a number of API changes, new effects, and other optimizations.
The latest stable version of the Flash Player can be downloaded from the
Adobe web-site. Additionally, this release was also announced on
Adobe's Penguin.SWF blog with reminding users Flash Player 10 for Linux adds in new dependencies.
