While there's many Radeon driver changes for Linux 3.17, the A10-7800 performance with Radeon R7 Graphics ended up being unchanged when it came to OpenGL performance compared to Linux 3.16 stable.
Over on OpenBenchmarking.org are the results that show Linux 3.16 and Linux 3.17 from the A10-7800 system along with the earlier Catalyst 14.6 Beta numbers from AMD's binary blob. Mesa 10.3-devel was in use during the 3.16/3.17 open-source tests. But long story short, Kaveri users will be hard pressed to find any OpenGL performance changes if upgrading to Linux 3.17 Git from 3.16, albeit there's new features and other non-performance changes in looking at the Linux 3.17 features.
