Open-Source AMD Graphics Driver 7.1.0 Released
Highlights for xf86-video-ati 7.1.0 include adding in new Radeon HD 7000 "Southern Islands" PCI Ids, fixing the ring count for R300 Textured Video, an X-Video fix for coordinate limits on X1000 Avivo GPUs, an R200 fix, fixing damage reporting for PRIME slave pixmaps, support for limiting the swap rate when the CRTC is in the DPMS off state, and a couple of other fixes.
There is also a notable commits by Michel Dänzer, mainly enabling of full 2D acceleration for Radeon HD 7000 series GPUs with the GLAMOR acceleration architecture. He also added in a couple of other unrelated fixes, some DRI2 work, and support for X.Org Servers older than version 1.7.
While this release enables full 2D GLAMOR acceleration for the Radeon HD 7000 series graphics cards, the open-source "RadeonSI" support is still a mess even though the hardware has been on the market for more than one year.
The xf86-video-ati 7.1.0 release announcement that lists the full set of changes for this DDX driver can be found on the dri-devel list.
