Linux Audio Driver Improvements On The Horizon

The new support in the sound world for Linux 3.8 includes new VIA HD audio codec support, FastTrack C400 USB audio device enablement, PSC724 Ultiimate Edge support, a new Stanton SCS.1d/1m FireWire driver, Wolfson ADSP cores support, and driver support for the Freescale/iVeia P1022 and Maxim MAX98090 chipsets.
Some of the other sound improvements include support for wall-clock timestamps within the ALSA PCM core, a poll loop implementation for HD audio jack detection, VGA Switcheroo fixes for HD audio support, resource management fixes for USB audio, clean-ups for firmware loading, HDSPM driver updates, standardized logging in ASoC codes, and various other driver fixes.
