New & Improved Media Drivers For The Linux 3.20 Kernel
Mauro Carvalho Chehab sent in the media driver updates for the Linux 3.20 kernel on Monday. There's new drivers as well as improvements to existing drivers, along with removing some old drivers.
The prominent media changes for Linux 3.20 include:
- A new platform driver for the Texas Instruments am437x.
- A new "toptek" web camera driver.
- The img-ir driver has support for new remoter controller hardware protocols.
- Removal of some old media drivers, including webcam drivers for devices on parallel ports: "a few very old drivers that relies on old kABIs and are for very hard to find hardware: parallel port webcam drivers (bw-qcam, c-cam, pms and w9966), tlg2300, Video In/Out for SGI (vino)." The USB Telegnet tlg2300 driver was also nuked.
- Improvements to the rtl2832, cx28521, and au0828 drivers. There's also new pixel formats and improvements/fixes to other media-related code.
