AMDVLK 2024.Q3.3 Brings New Performance Optimizations & Pipeline Binaries
AMD today released AMDVLK 2024.Q3.3 as their latest open-source Vulkan API driver for Linux systems prior to ending the quarter.
AMDVLK 2024.Q3.3 brings new performance tuning to benefit Serious Sam and Talos Principle games. There is also performance tuning for Rainbow Six Extraction that is specific to benefiting Navi 33 GPUs.
Other AMDVLK 2024.Q3.3 changes are updating against the Vulkan 1.3.295 headers, removing an NV31 PWS workaround, and adding support for the VK_KHR_pipeline_binary extension. VK_KHR_pipeline_binary is an important extension so that games/apps can obtain binary data for individual pipelines so that they can manage pipeline caching on their side rather than relying on pipeline cache objects. VK_KHR_pipeline_binary was introduced back in August.
AMDVLK 2024.Q3.3 also has several bug fixes. Downloads -- source code and RHEL / Ubuntu binaries -- are available via GitHub.
