Across other code compilation benchmarks, the Xeon Platinum 8380 2P was largely comparable with the AMD EPYC processors tested in this comparison. It comes down to the build system, the number of source files, and other factors for how well the Xeon Platinum 8380 would perform in a build farm relative to the AMD EPYC processors.

The dual Xeon Platinum 8380 server did pick up a sizable win over the AMD EPYC 7003 series processors for the HPCG interconnect benchmark.

The dual Xeon Platinum 8380 server also was performing in-line with the EPYC 7763 flagship processors for the LAMMPS molecular dynamics software package.

The Xeon Platinum 8380 2P power consumption though was much higher than the other CPUs tested, which in turn slightly favored the EPYC 7763/7713 for better power efficiency with LAMMPS.
