First up with the EP.C test from NASA's Parallel Benchmarks suite, the 7980XE ends up coming just a hair faster than the 7960X. While the 7980XE has two more cores / four threads, its base clock frequency is 200MHz lower.

Parboil's CUTCP benchmark is a rare case where the 1950X still comes out victorious.

While in other well-threaded OpenMP benchmarks, the Core i9 7980XE comes in at its small advantage over the Core i9 7960X.

An example of the difference of tuning can make on performance for different threaded code-bases in the Linux world depending upon your workload.
