Nest Outdoor Security Camera

For my testing I placed the Nest Cam Outdoor at the back corner of a backyard. In this position it's out of direct sunlight and its power connector had no problems sharing a weatherproof outlet with a landscape lighting connection. I barely had to use any of the power cable though and had excess cabling, but fortunately with its position it was all out of sight.

Assembly took only a few minutes. Syncing the Outdoor Nest Cam to your account is just another QR code that needs to be scanned via the app.

The Nest Cam Outdoor can be configured via the Nest App and the livestream accessed via the app -- the same app as managing the Nest Thermostat and Nest Protects. Or from the Nest.com web-site you can fully manage the camera too... But that's where my first complaint rolled in: viewing the video stream from the Nest web-site requires Adobe Flash. Hopefully Nest plans to implement HTML5 video support soon!

From a few feet away you can easily tell it's a security camera, but beyond that distance, it blended in well -- at least with a white background. At night it's noticeable only by the green LED.
