Can Ubuntu 9.10 Outperform Mac OS X 10.6?
The BYTE Unix Benchmark with the Dhrystone 2, Register Arithmetic, Integer Arithmetic, and Floating-Point Arithmetic tests were largely the same between Mac OS X and Ubuntu.
Mac OS X 10.6.0 outperformed both versions of Ubuntu when it came to the Monte Carlo and Sparse Matrix Multiply performance in SciMark 2.0.
The Threaded I/O Tester performance was mixed between Ubuntu and Mac OS X, but overall the performance was about the same.
