Tyke Supply Dual LCD Monitor Stand
If you find yourself picking up any extra monitors this holiday season, you may be in need of a monitor stand. When it comes to monitor stands though, Ergotron is often regarded as the leading manufacturer of such LCD stands, but their products come with a hefty price tag where a simple side-by-side LCD arm can cost over $300 USD. If you do not want to spend several hundred dollars -- likely more than the cost of a monitor itself -- on a metal stand, I have a better solution. For the past two months, I have been using LCD monitor from Tyke Supply. They are wonderfully reliable, fully adjustable, and cost just a fraction of what it would cost if buying from Ergotron.
I have been using both the dual and quad LCD monitor stands/arms from Tyke Supply and both have been working out incredibly well. In this review, I am just commenting on the dual LCD arm, but in another article, I will have more photos and thoughts on the quad LCD version. Tyke Supply also offers LCD monitor stands that support triple displays as well as hex displays. Best of all, the prices on these stands are unimaginably low for their capabilities and build quality. The dual LCD monitor arm retails for just over $40 USD and even the six-display monitor stand goes for less than $100 USD.
Type Supply is a family-owned business based in Florida that specializes in high quality yet low-priced monitor stands. They do not assemble the stands themselves but rather deal with OEMs in Taiwan for manufacturing. I, like most people, were planning to go with Ergotron LCD stands but had come across several Tyke Supply stands at Amazon when shopping. Their dual LCD monitor stand (the one being looked at here) had a five-star rating from 65 customer reviews and the quad LCD monitor stand had a five-star rating too from 33 customer reviews. While I had never heard of Tyke Supply before or professionally dealt with them previously, I decided to order both the dual and quad LCD monitor arms for $110 USD total, where as if going with Ergotron for similar stands its $329 for their LX dual side-by-side arm and then $359 for their DS100 quad-monitor desk stand. A total price of $110 with dozens of positive customer reviews versus nearly $700 for Ergotron stands was enough to make me try out Tyke Supply products.
The Tyke Supply dual LCD monitor stand is designed to support up to two 24-inch LCD displays with a weight up to 7.25 kilograms per display. The stand is fully adjustable from the height of the arms to allowing the monitor to tilt, pivot, and rotate freely. These stands are actually more configurable than the latest Ergotron mounts that no longer have all of the tilt / pivot adjustments like earlier models. Both arms of the monitor stand can be adjusted independently aside from being locked in at the same height. The stand attaches to a desk via a sturdy C-clamp. The LCD monitor mounts support 75 x 75 mm and 100 x 100 mm VESA mounts. The entire monitor stand is made out of die-cast aluminum.
