Windows 11 vs. Ubuntu 24.10 Performance For Intel Core Ultra 7 Lunar Lake
Following my recent Intel Core Ultra 7 200V "Lunar Lake" Linux benchmarks and looking at the Xe2 Lunar Lake graphics (including Windows 11 vs. Linux already), you may be wondering about the Lunar Lake CPU performance between Windows and Linux... Here are some benchmarks of the ASUS Zenbook S 14 with Core Ultra 7 256V under Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.10 Linux.
The ASUS Zenbook S 14 (ASUS UX5406SA) shipped with Microsoft Windows 11 to no surprise. Prior to blowing out the Windows installation, I had ran some benchmarks using all the latest Windows software and updates as of the launch time when my pre-order of this notebook arrived on 28 September.
Following the Windows 11 testing I ran benchmarks of Ubuntu 24.10 with the Linux 6.11 kernel using the Ubuntu 24.10 daily state as of 4 October, effectively in its final state ahead of the imminent Ubuntu 24.10 official release.
With having already shared some Windows 11 vs. Linux numbers in the Xe2 graphics article, the benchmarks today are looking at the CPU/system performance across a variety of Windows and Linux benchmarks in being curious which operating system is performing better for this Lunar Lake laptop. The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V as a reminder has 4 P cores and 4 E cores without any Hyper Threading to provide a total of 8 cores/threads with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.8GHz while having 16GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory.
