Between Ubuntu and OpenSuSE, with the PostMark performance the OpenSuSE 11.2 Milestone 6 distribution was the fastest being able to withstand a few more transactions per second.

With the database performance in SQLite, Mandriva actually was the fastest. Mandriva was still running with the EXT3 file-system by default while Ubuntu and OpenSuSE are among the distributions to be using the newer EXT4 file-system as their default choice. Mandriva had a slight but noticeable lead over Ubuntu / OpenSuSE in this test.

The best GnuPG file encryption performance came with OpenSuSE 11.2 Milestone 6 followed by Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 4 and Mandriva 2010 Beta 1 very closely.
