AVX-512 Performance Comparison: AMD Genoa vs. Intel Sapphire Rapids & Ice Lake

With the OpenVKL volume kernel library from Intel all of the CPUs enjoyed 14~17% better performance thanks to AVX-512.

With Intel's Open Image Denoise library the AVX-512 uplift on the Xeon Platinum 8490H was enough to push it ahead of the EPYC 9654 2P server. Oddly the OIDN AVX-512 usage wasn't of benefit on the AMD EPYC Genoa server.

Though in any case the AMD EPYC Genoa server was delivering better performance-per-Watt than that of Sapphire Rapids even with its higher uplift from AVX-512 in OIDN.
