Interestingly, the Linux 3.14 kernel performance improvements carried through into other CPU-bound workloads as well. The CPUfreq governor nor any other fundamental switch was made with the Linux 3.14 kernel but interestingly the Linux 3.14 kernel is a very nice performance upgrade for at least this dual-core AMD Kabini system.

While it should come as no surprise to experienced Linux enthusiasts, the newer the kernel and Mesa the better the performance was for the open-source RadeonSI Gallium3D graphics benchmarks. The Linux 3.14 kernel performance improvements that also were found with the computational tests was also really great to see and we will be exploring further to see what other hardware may be benefited from the Linux 3.14 kernel changes. For now you can also check out our other Linux 3.14 kernel coverage and the Linux 3.14 feature overview.
