Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 EATX
There are four fans immediately visible when the case is opened. They are all 120mm fans. One of the fans was loose at the bottom and can be mounted to the bottom of the case or to the top of the hard drive cage. (Note: the FDD bracket needed to be removed in order to mount this fan. Unfortunately, this seems to entail that you cannot mount a FDD when you want to cool your hard drives.) Two fans act as exhaust on the top of the case and one fan expels hot air out the back.
Inside the case is...well...tons of space. Rarely have we seen cases with this working room in them! As you can see in the picture, the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 accepts Extended ATX motherboards. They also include a very handy sheet of paper that indicates which screw holes should be used for mounting the motherboard. Leave this sheet on until you have prepared all of the supports for the motherboard.
After the motherboard was in place, next stop was the power supply. OCZ Technology kindly provided a PC Power & Cooling 750W Silencer. This is straightforward, except for one thing. The power supply mount is lined with rubber, which, like the foam acts to dampen any vibrations and sounds from the power supply.
There are two holes to the right of the motherboard mount and two holes above the motherboard mount that enable the user to hide the cables. The holes lead to the space between the right side panel and the case. Although, there really isn't much of any space to speak of. There was a critical flaw in the design of the two holes above the motherboard mounting however. They are essentially not usable. The design of the quick release door requires that the case door and the latches be flush with each other. However, the quick release mechanism is a straight horizontal bar located below the two horizontal oval holes above the motherboard. This means no cables may pass this horizontal bar, otherwise the case door will not close properly. Why would one want to run any wires or cables down beyond the bar? Perhaps you want to connect the two top fans to power supply molex connectors? Nope, can't do it. In any case this was a minor annoyance. Let's move on.
