Installation & Performance:

Outside of the microATX requirements for the motherboard, the other compatibility notes for the SG01 Evolution include a CPU cooler than cannot exceed a height of 78mm and a combined depth of the power supply and optical drive cannot exceed 355mm. In addition to the SilverStone Element ST50EF-Plus SC going with this case for testing, we had also equipped the system with a new SilverStone Nitrogon NT06 CPU cooler. We had previously reviewed this heatsink and it was a phenomenal product. For carrying around any Sugo chassis, the SilverStone Sugo Pak is also an excellent product. All of the hardware we had installed when testing the SG01W is listed below.

Hardware Components
Processor: Intel Pentium D 820
Motherboard: Tyan Toledo i965R
Memory: 2 x 1GB OCZ DDR2
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1800XL 256MB
Hard Drives: Seagate 80GB 7200.10 SATA
Optical Drives: ASUS DVD-RW 16x
Cooling: SilverStone Nitrogon NT06
Case: SilverStone Sugo SG01B-W
Power Supply: SilverStone Element 500W
Software Components
Operating System: Fedora Core 7 Test 2

The installation process between the SG01 and SG01W remains virtually unchanged with the exception of the internal fan bracket. SilverStone's user manual is also well documented for any new owners that may have never previously worked with a Sugo case. When it comes to installing the Nitrogon NT06 with the SG01W, the heatsink will fit perfectly without the fan attached. Fortunately the Element ST50EF-Plus is equipped with a 120mm fan on the bottom of the power supply, which for the Intel Pentium D was able to provide enough airflow to keep the processor relatively cool.

Having worked with Sugo cases before, the installation process was a breeze. The Element ST50EF-Plus SC had fit very well and the cables were of all the perfect length. With the Element ST50EF-Plus fan cooling the Nitrogon NT06, and the overall design of the SG01W Evolution being to optimize the cooling/airflow abilities while maintaining near complete silence, the Sugo was very successful in this respect. In fact, when a few feet away from the SG01W, it could barely be heard. Not only did it operate great, but it had also looked phenomenal with the acrylic windows and finally being able to see inside the Sugo as it is running. The Element power supply had also operated terrific, and when monitoring its voltages they were well within range for their ideal values.
