VESA Unveils The Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a Specification
For those that missed it, VESA published the Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a specification this week. This new version has VESA Display Stream Compression and will support laptop panels up to 8K.
The Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a specification allows for faster video transfer rates to provide for increased panel resolution, greater color depth, and higher refresh rates. Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a also has a multi-SST Operation (MSO) for segmented panel displays. VESA's eDP 1.4a specification also has a partial update to Panel Self Refresh (PSR) of the original eDP 1.4 specification. There's also Adaptive Sync support with this new standard.
More details on the Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a specification can be found via the VESA.org press release.
