Linux 4.8-rc5 Kernel Brings A Fair Number Of Changes
Linus Torvalds announced the release a short time ago of the Linux 4.8-rc5 kernel, which ends up weighing in as bigger than last week's 4.8-rc4.
The Linux 4.8-rc5 kernel has more changes than what was found in Linux 4.8-rc4, but overall the changes should be relatively low impact with there being lots of small fixes throughout the stack. Linus says though if things aren't calming down soon enough, Linux 4.8 may go up to an RC8 milestone.
Most likely Linux 4.8 will be released in late September. You can read the 4.8-rc5 release announcement via the kernel mailing list. Linux 4.8 overall is shaping up to be yet another exciting kernel milestone.
