When a new manufacturer contacts Phoronix to ask us to look at one of their products they usually provide a great deal of background information on the company and other details in attempts to spark our interest. So when Tagan contacted us, what did they say? "NanoPoint was established in 2003, with headquarter, Maxpoint based in Hamburg, Germany. Maxpoint was established in 1992 and started off as a European distributor... Towards the end of the 1990 the CEO, decided to restructure the company in order to manufacture and promote its own products and brands. Since 2000, Maxpoint invested heavily into manufacturing and gradually transformed from a distributor to a manufacturer. Maxpoint to date has four branches worldwide; France, UK, Taiwan and USA, and have further plans to open additional branches in Spain and Italy. As far as product is concerned Maxpoint launched its first product into the market 3 years ago, a computer ATX power supply unit, branded Tagan." So what is special about this company? "Tagan is focused on delivering quality, true wattage, and silent power supply unit targeted at the high end of the market. In comparison to its competitors its product offering is different, firstly the cabling itself, secondly it relied on innovation and has patented for example 20-24 pin 4-8 pin mainboard connectors which its competitors are paying for in order to use the concept. Tagan's reliability, quality and quietness has been highlighted in various reviews."

With that said, the last time we had looked at a Tagan power supply was after ePower Technology had re-branded the Tagan 480W power supply. However, the recent introduction of the TurboJet TG1100-U95 had certainly caught out attention. The Tagan TurboJet TG1100-U95 is capable of delivering 1100W of power while supporting four graphics cards and multi-core server systems.

When receiving the Tagan TurboJet 1100W we were extremely impressed by the packaging. In the past we had seen some power supplies arrive in plastic boxes or very nice cardboard containers, but the TG1100-U95 ships in a leather case! A cardboard sleeve covers this briefcase, which advertises the various product features. The briefcase itself is actually quite durable and left us with great first impressions. After the power supply is installed the briefcase can be reused for other parts. Found inside of the Tagan briefcase were the 1100W PSU (wrapped in bubble wrap), Tagan TurboJet user's manual, and a box containing the power cable and zip ties and other accessories to assist in cable management.
