The PostMark mail server disk benchmark indicated potentially reduced EXT4 performance on Ubuntu Trusty's Linux 3.12 kernel over 3.11 in Ubuntu 13.10 but that was not the case for Threaded I/O Tester and other disk workloads.

For most CPU benchmarks you won't find much of a change out of Ubuntu 14.04 at this time since the kernel difference is only one major release and that both Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS are currently shipping with the GCC 4.8.2 compiler with GCC 4.9 not being ready for a few months and likely will not make it into Ubuntu 14.04 aside from the usual gcc-snapshot package.
