NVIDIA 470 EOL Drivers For Kepler Still Obliterating Open-Source Alternative

While the re-clocked Nouveau driver is a great deal faster for the Kepler GPUs than the miserable out-of-the-box performance when bound to the boot clock frequencies, even in 2021 the NVIDIA proprietary driver remains much faster than Nouveau for most workloads...

In some cases the performance is at least close to the NVIDIA 470 driver, but in those cases they tend to be for older, less GPU demanding games that can even run at hundreds of frames per second on Kepler era hardware.

Nouveau when bound to the boot clock speeds is basically useless, which is the major blocker with the lack of re-clocking for the GeForce GTX 900 series and newer currently on Linux.
