Performance:

The ePower XScale 570W PSU (EP-570MP) was tested on one of our open-air testbeds. The test system we utilized consisted of the following components:

Hardware Components
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice)
Motherboard: DFI nForce4 Ultra-D
Memory: OCZ EL PC-4000 2GB
Graphics Card: eVGA 6800GT
Hard Drives: Maxtor 120GB and 160GB
Cooling: DangerDen Water Cooling
Software Components
Operating System: FedoraCore4
Linux Kernel: 2.6.12-1.1447

The Venice in this situation was overclocked to 2.70 GHz (300 X 9) at 1.7 volts. The RAM was running on a 166/200 divider, which resulted in a frequency of 250MHz. To stress the PSU, we primarily strained the GPU and GPU through running CPU Burn-In v1.00 (Linux) and Doom 3 for 30 minutes. The idle voltages on the other hand were taken while no processes were running on the system for 30 minutes. The voltages were all measured using a calibrated Craftsman Digital Multimeter.

Conclusion:

Overall the unit’s performance was not anywhere near bad. Although, the 12 Volt line was surprisingly low but on the other hand, it didn’t fluctuate much under load (which is of course very good). As for the unit’s noise level, at high speeds, the fans were noticeable outside of a case we had tried. While in low speed operation, the fans were reasonably quiet and pushed enough air in order to adequately cool the system. Overall this is a respectable unit for enthusiasts and overclockers. Certainly not the best unit possible, especially if there are intentions of running SLI or CrossFire, but we hadn't found the unit to be poor by any means with the exception of the 12V rail that could have been improved. Other nice aspects about the ePower XScale Silent Engine 570W PSU (EP-570MP) was the AC pass-through connector as well as the cables being sleeved/braided.
