Next Embree was tested both with its default tracer as well as the ISPC-optimized version for using the Intel SPMD Program Compiler.

The EPYC 7742 performance continued being quite compelling over the Xeon Platinum 8280 processors with Intel's own optimized software.

But there were select cases like with the "asian dragon" model where these top-end x86_64 server processors were running neck-and-neck.

When using the ISPC-optimized path tracer from Embree with the "asian dragon" models, the Xeon Platinum 8280s delivered about 23% better performance over the EPYC 7742 2P server.
