Here's a look at the workloads with a measurable difference when disabling the mitigations using the convenient "mitigations=off" Linux kernel parameter.

When looking at the geometric mean of all the results carried out in full for affected tests, these software-controlled mitigations represent around a 4.5% difference to the Core i7-1065G7 on Dell XPS 9370. That is at least not the 10%+ difference we have routinely seen with earlier Intel CPUs, but still very much apparently in the likes of web browsing heavy on JavaScript and some I/O workloads. There was also still a hit to areas like Apache and Nginx web servers albeit not particularly relevant to most laptop users aside from those doing local web development.
