The read latency with the Threaded I/O Tester was also higher under Ubuntu x86_64.

With the PostgreSQL test, Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit did worse than Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit, which in turn did much worse than Mac OS X 10.5.6.

The Java-based Sunflow test profile did better under Ubuntu x86_64, but still was no match for the performance found in Apple Mac OS X with its Sun Java stack.
