There was a jump in the MIPS count with Ubuntu 64-bit through the 7-Zip compression test.

The 2GB Gzip file compression time dropped with Ubuntu 64-bit too, leading to another win for those using newer AMD or Intel processors.

A 64-bit Ubuntu Linux installation required more time when encrypting a 2GB file using GnuPG. The 64-bit environment was actually 27% slower.
