The particular graphics card that is being tested in this article is the MSI GeForce GTX 680. This graphics card follows closely NVIDIA's GTX 680 reference design, including for its dual-slot cooler. This heatsink fan was relatively quiet during operation (with the binary NVIDIA Linux driver) and its fan speed does dynamically just based upon use. Of course, if using the Nouveau driver the fan will likely be running at full-speed due to the lack of fan management support in this open-source driver.

Display connections on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 include two dual-link DVI, one HDMI 1.4a connector, and one DisplayPort connector. Display connections on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 include two dual-link DVI, one HDMI 1.4a connector, and one DisplayPort connector.

NVIDIA SLI continues to be supported for multi-GPU configurations.

The GeForce GTX 680 requires two PCI Express 6-pin power connectors for providing sufficient power to the GK104 card, with its maximum power consumption being 195 Watts. A 550-Watt power supply or greater is recommended.
