macOS 10.14 Mojave vs. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS vs. Clear Linux Benchmarks

Ubuntu and Clear Linux were much faster for the Python performance over macOS Mojave or High Sierra.

The Linux distributions were also faster with their stock PHP performance over what's available in macOS Mojave.

The time to run several Git operations on a static GTK+ source repository was faster on Clear Linux and Ubuntu with EXT4 over macOS with APFS.

Lastly are some synthetic OS tests using OSBench for those interested in more metrics between Linux and macOS.

From this initial round of macOS Mojave benchmarking on the late 2016 Apple MacBook Pro, only in a few scenarios was there any real performance difference between macOS High Sierra and macOS Mojave. Between the four operating systems tested on this Core i7 + Radeon RX 460 MacBook Pro, Clear Linux came in first place 45% of the time, Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS was fastest 34% of the time, and then coming in first just about 20% of the time was Apple's macOS. But keep in mind using Linux on the Apple MacBook Pro isn't without its challenges when it comes to keyboard/touchpad support, Touch Bar support, GPU switching, and other functionality not working or at least not necessarily being supported by the mainline kernel. If you are looking for a Linux-friendly, performant laptop, I would personally recommend the latest Dell XPS (Kabylake) laptop that also works on Linux with their Thunderbolt Dock and all-around plays nicely with modern Linux distributions.
