For the system tests where the benchmarks are built from source, the default compiler toolchain on each platform was in use. On macOS 10.13.6 that is Xcode 91 while for macOS Mojave that is LLVM 10.0. On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS it's the GCC 7.3 stack and GCC 8.2.1 for Clear Linux.

With the MAFFT scientific test, Clear Linux was slightly ahead of Ubuntu 18.04, in turn both Linux distributions were several seconds faster than macOS.

The Golang performance was generally much better off on Clear Linux and Ubuntu than macOS Mojave or High Sierra.

Clear Linux came out noticeably faster than macOS and Ubuntu in the Fhourstones Connect-4 benchmark.
