Ubuntu 24.04 Boosts Performance, Outperforming Windows 11 On The AMD Ryzen Framework 16 Laptop
Right off the bat with some OpenJDK Java benchmarks it was evident Ubuntu 24.04 outperforming Ubuntu 23.10. But not really surprising as I've seen some nice performance gains as well going from 23.10 (or 22.04) to 24.04 on desktop and server class hardware where I'm mostly benchmarking. With Ubuntu 24.04 is the fresh Linux 6.8 kernel, GCC 13.2, and other software upgrades that are especially more dramatic if sticking to the two-year Ubuntu LTS releases.
For many of the Java benchmarks both Ubuntu releases were faster than Windows 11 while in some cases only the brand new Ubuntu 24.04 was outperforming Microsoft Windows.
Windows 11 can still pull off an occasional upset.
Ubuntu 24.04 is moving performance in the right direction as shown across desktop, server, and now laptop benchmarks.
