Fedora 30 Performance Is Moving In The Right Direction But A Lot Of Untapped Potential

With the I/O benchmarks, Clear Linux and Ubuntu 19.04 were tending to offer better EXT4 performance than Fedora. openSUSE Tumbleweed with its XFS+Btrfs setup even came in second place for the Dbench runs.

With this system having NVIDIA graphics and tested out-of-the-box with Nouveau, I wasn't expecting the results to be surprising but rather flat for the Nouveau OpenGL performance. Surprisingly though Clear Linux was able to offer noticeably better performance than the other Linux distributions in cases like OpenArena and Tesseract. Granted, Nouveau on Clear Linux still wouldn't be fast enough for serious gaming due to the lack of re-clocking support for the Nouveau upstream driver. The Fedora Nouveau performance was comparable to that of openSUSE Tumbleweed and slightly faster than Ubuntu 19.04.
