AMD A10-6800K Richland APU On Linux

Next up are the power consumption results and the performance-per-Watt from this system with the A10-5800K and A10-6800K APUs. The Phoronix Test Suite is automatically able to read the AC power consumption of USB-based WattsUp power meters (among other power interfaces/devices) via the MONITOR=sys.power environment variable. When setting PERFORMANCE_PER_WATT=1 as an environment variable, the Phoronix Test Suite also takes care of generating performance-per-Watt results for each test.

Unfortunately there are no APU thermal results for the A10-6800K at this time since the AMD Linux thermal driver failed to report any result and the graphics core temperature reported by Catalyst was bogus.

The A10-6800K with its 100-Watt TDP was pulling the same amount of power as the A10-5800K while the overclocked A10-6800K at 4.70GHz was going through much more power with the APU being fed 1.40 Volts.

But when looking at the performance of the C-Ray test...

The A10-6800K at stock speeds was roughly delivering the same performance-per-Watt as its Trinity sibling, but when overclocked the performance-per-Watt was driven much higher.
