For the workloads not making significant use of the large L3 cache, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D at times fell behind the Ryzen 7 7700X with that eight-core Zen 4 CPU having a 5.4GHz boost clock compared to 5.0GHz with the 7800X3D.

But even for those workloads not having much use of the 3D V-Cache, the performance-per-Watt continued to be quite compelling.
