AMD Ryzen "Renoir" CPU Frequency Scaling Governor Performance
For the vast majority of the CPU bound workloads, there isn't much of a performance difference on the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U between the performance, conservative, schedutil, and ondemand governors. It's just with the "powersave" governor on AMD Renoir where the CPU tends to stick to the lowest performance states and thus leading to very slow performance as a result.
In some workloads like dav1d AV1 video decoding, using the performance governor does lead to measurably higher performance. This test also shows that "schedutil" has a ways to go and that ondemand isn't always the best.
Schedutil and ondemand were at least more competitive to the performance governor with Intel's OpenVKL benchmark.
