Examination:

Sticking by Kingmax, Corsair, PQI, Crucial, and the various other manufacturers who offer "budget" or "value" lines of memory products, Transcend remains visually close to these cheaper modules by offering no heatspreaders, LED modules, or various other enthusiast oriented features we've seen over recent months and years. Printed in gold lettering on the traditional green memory PCB is Transcend, to help prevent counterfeiting, as well as a Transcend holographic sticker across two of the memory chips. On the second sticker for each of these memory modules, the memory type is printed (512MB DDR2-533) as well as the serial number (118130-XXXX).

Onto more important matters, the ICs used on the DDR2-533 Transcend chips are manufactured by Elpida Taiwan and a part number of E5108AE-5C-E with a batch number of 05120924B. Decoding the part number, the ICs are un-buffered non-ECC and require the JEDEC 1.8v power supply while offering default speeds of PC2-4200 at 4-4-4 timings. It will be very interesting to see just how well these modules can run as the last time we had Elpida parts in our testing environment, it came in way of Kingmax's Mars DDR2-667 memory that had timed and overclocked phenomenally. As each module only contains a 512MB memory capacity, each of the sticks is single-sided.
