The input subsystem updates merged this week bring a number of improvements to existing drivers while adding one new input driver.

The new input driver of Linux 6.12 is for handling PixArt PS/2 touchpads and clickpads. This new "pixart_ps2" driver was developed by Pixart in collaboration with Loongson engineers. This is intended to support the PixArt touchpads/clickpads found in various laptops.

No specific laptop models were mentioned for where this new driver will enable the touchpad functionality. With Loongson's involvement, presumably some LoongArch laptops are coming that make use of the PixArt touchpad.

The input subsystem updates for Linux 6.12 also bring improvements to the USB touchscreen driver, support for touch keys within the Zinitix driver, querying density of Synaptics sensors, a sysfs interface for Goodix Berlin hardware to read/write touch IC registers, quirks for more TUXEDO Computers laptops, and other updates.
