With the popular, open-source, cross-platform Xonotic first person shooter the NVIDIA graphics cards on the 337.25 x86_64 Linux driver continued to lead over the AMD Catalyst 14.6 Beta release. Again, the Radeon R9 290 was even outpaced by the GTX 760. With Xonotic, the Radeon R9 290 performance even fell behind the R9 270X. I've been shouting about R9 290 Hawaii Linux issues for months to AMD and the community, but so far there's been no major improvements for the OpenGL driver. The open-source support for the Radeon R9 290 series also remains broken.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti Maxwell graphics card delivered the best performance-per-Watt followed by its GTX 750 sibling. The high-end Maxwell graphics cards should be amazing on Linux.

The GTX 750 Ti had an average temp of 53 Celsius while the GTX 750 was down to 44 degrees.
