The open-source Tesseract game with its interesting custom renderer would be considered playable with basically all of the graphics cards tested. However, worth noting is still the odd performance imbalance between the proprietary AMD and NVIDIA drivers. With Catalyst 15.7 on the tested AMD graphics cards, the Radeon R9 290 was running at the same speed as the GeForce GTX 960 and GeForce GTX 680.

While just a tech demo, the Unigine Valley results are always interesting for pushing graphics cards to their limit. Here, the Radeon R9 290 was performing slower than a GeForce GTX 970.
