For this article the ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 was benchmarked against various other modern laptops I had available for testing. The collection of laptops freshly tested for this comparison on Ubuntu 21.10 included:

Dell XPS 9380 - Core i7 8565U "Whiskey Lake"
Dell XPS 7390 - Core i7 1065G7 "Ice Lake"
Dell XPS 9310 - Core i7 1165G7 "Tiger Lake"
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 - Ryzen 5 4500U "Zen 2"
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 - Ryzen 7 4700U "Zen 2"
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 - Ryzen 5 5500U "Zen 2"
ASUS Strix G15 AMD Advantage - Ryzen 9 5900HX "Zen 3"

The system table notes the prominent information across these various laptops. Ubuntu 21.10 with its stock Linux 5.13 kernel and Mesa 21.2.2 and GCC 11.2 was used across all of the devices. All of the laptops were tested in their out-of-the-box state on this latest Ubuntu Linux release.
