Here is a quick assortment of the CPU-focused cross-platform benchmarks run for this comparison. When there are more BSDs running fine on the latest Intel Xeon platform, I'll be cooking up a larger comparison.

But at least when comparing the out-of-the-box performance of FreeBSD/TrueOS and even with running under the GCC compiler rather than LLVM Clang, the Linux distributions were offering noticeably better performance on this dual Intel Xeon Gold server. Of course, with some tweaking to each operating system you may encounter different results and if your workloads are mostly centered around networking or other subsystems, etc. Nevertheless, it's great to see TrueOS / FreeBSD running fine with the Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs and the Tyan GT24E-B7106.
