The Current Windows 10 vs. Linux Browser Performance For Google Chrome + Mozilla Firefox

First up was the ARES-6 benchmark with Mozilla Firefox where Windows 10 had around an 8% lead over the fastest Linux distribution, which in this case was Fedora 29 followed immediately by Clear Linux. As covered last week, openSUSE Tumbleweed by far had the slowest performance out-of-the-box.

When running ARES-6 under Google Chrome 73, Windows 10 had a much more significant lead (~30%) compared to the fastest Linux distribution, which in this case was Clear Linux.

When firing up the Octane JavaScript benchmark, Windows 10 was again the fastest and for Firefox was 13% faster than the fastest Linux distributions.

While Octane was running on Google Chrome, Windows 10 had a 31% advantage over the Linux distributions or even more in the case of openSUSE Tumbleweed.
