The Xonotic benchmark results are similar to the earlier results with KDE 4.9 being the fastest when having KWin automatically suspend effects full-screen windows while the default Unity 6.4 with Compiz performance is awful. GNOME Shell is doing nice overall and Xfce and LXDE are strong competitors.
