With the CPU-bound Portal game already running at several hundred frames per second with the R9 Fury, there was some difference between the desktops, but overall not too much. MATE was the slowest followed by KDE Plasma 5 and Xfce, then Unity right in the middle, and within 1% of Unity was GNOME Shell, LXDE, and Openbox as the fastest.
