Getting things going with Nexuiz, the Mesa Git upgrade is obviously a big win for the Linux side. However, even with the latest Mesa code as of yesterday it's still not enough to out seat Windows 8 and the Intel proprietary driver for this particular game. At least the Mesa upgrade was enough to push the frame-rate average above 30 FPS.

To some surprise, the OpenArena game with the latest Mesa Git code is now measurably faster than the Windows 8 operating system and its Intel Haswell HD graphics driver. Sadly though OpenArena isn't some popular AAA title but rather just a basic open-source game derived from the aging ioquake3 engine.
