Examination:

The SilverStone Raven RVM01B is a rather large mouse but is ergonomically designed. The three immediate features that distinguish its appearance are the large scroll wheel on the left hand side of the mouse and an OLED display on the mouse itself behind the traditional scroll wheel. We will talk more about both of these features shortly. The dimensions for this mouse are 128 x 85 x 45 mm and the weight on the mouse is 182 grams.

On the bottom of the mouse there are four Teflon pads that are large and allow this mouse to slide nicely across all surfaces. Towards the back of the mouse is a switch for toggling between the normal (or Vista, as it's called) and game modes. If you are using the SilverStone Raven driver, the mouse will operate differently depending upon the mouse mode. For those on Linux or other operating systems without the RVM01B driver, you will want to leave it on the normal mode otherwise you lose the ability to control the DPI range. The DPI steppings include 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. The SilverStone model and serial numbers are also printed on the bottom of the mouse. The sensor on this mouse is a Philips PLN2030 twin-eye laser and the controller is a Freescale MCU MC68H908JW32.

The body of the mouse is composed mostly of a high-quality plastic, but the palm rest area is made of carbon fiber. SilverStone's logo is also printed in this carbon fiber area. In the center of the mouse between the carbon fiber area and the top scroll wheel is the OLED display. This OLED screen is 128 x 32 pixels. Shown on this screen is the X and Y DPI values along with the current mode of the mouse. When nothing has been changed with the mouse, shown on the screen is the SilverStone Raven logo.

There are eleven buttons on this mouse including two scroll wheels. This mouse also supports up to five programmable profiles, but that is only if using the SilverStone-supplied driver. These different buttons include a left click, right click, top scroll wheel / middle click, forward, back, scroll left, scroll right, page up, page down, preset DPI change, flip 3D, and the mode change button. The length of the USB 2.0 cable on this mouse is 180cm.
