Tossing in j2dbench for some basic Java 2D benchmarking, it was interesting to note that the Linux performance was much faster than Windows.
Running some of the cross-platform synthetic tests were mixed with cases like GiMark finding better performance on Ubuntu Linux with the NVIDIA driver.
While in cases like Furmark, the NVIDIA GPU performance was much higher on Windows.
In the case of Plot3D, the performance was faster on Linux for the Pascal cards but for the Turing GPU the performance was faster on Windows with its 411 series driver.
The triangle synthetic benchmark that usually is an indication of GPU vRAM performance showed a significantly lower score on Linux than against the current Linux driver.
When running the V-RAY renderer on the GPUs, the NVIDIA Linux stack on Ubuntu 18.04 ended up delivering superior performance across the board.
Stay tuned for more tests coming in soon on Phoronix, it's still a busy benchmarking season with the RTX 2080 Ti as well as several other interesting tests coming down the pipe.
